My baby is a kindergartener! :(

So today was the first day of school and my baby is in kindergarten! How does that happen? How do they grow up so freaking fast? I was very proud of her, but more of myself because I held in my tears until I got to the car to go to work! She was so excited to start and it didn't phase her at all to go to a new place and meet new people! I'm pretty dang proud of the little girl she's grown up to be so far!

So here she is at home before we left. She was over the pictures before they even began! lol

I just *had* to take a picture of her when she turned around because her backpack is almost as big as she is! It's absolutely adorable and I love it!

Here she is next to the sign at the school.

Close up of her by the school sign.

This is her in her classroom at her seat. She was so over it by this point!

When I picked her up after school, the teacher said she got pretty tired around 2:00. At daycare, they would eat lunch at 11:30, then have naptime after that until 2:00. Although she usually doesn't take a nap on the weekends. So we are going to have to adjust bedtime a bit to make up for not having a nap during the week as well.

She was very excited and said they went to the music room and got to sing. And she was very proud of the fact that she ate her whole lunch except her strawberries!

I am very thankful that her teacher seems to be super nice so far and it seems like she is going to enjoy it!

An Apology and Briana's Favorite Place

I've been promising some of my followers an update for months now and just haven't gotten around to it. So my sincerest apologies to you all for not updating as often as you all would like. Seems like time has just been slipping away lately.

Tonight we were watching Nick Jr. and one of the "commercials" that comes on between shows was a child singing about his/her (I wasn't actually watching, just listening so I'm not sure if it was a boy or a girl) favorite places.

So as the kid is singing about all his/her favorite places...the beach, the swimming pool, etc., the following conversation occurs:
Briana: "My favorite place is here!"
Me: "Your favorite place is home?"
Briana: "Yep!"
Me: "Why is home your favorite place?"
Briana: "Because you're here Mommy."

I think my heart melted all over the floor. Man, I don't think it's possible to love this kid any more than I already do. Seriously, I am so blessed to have her in my life and to be her mother.

Where the Easter Bunny Lives

So I'm sitting at work talking to one of my co-workers and my phone rings. It's my parents' number so I answer since my mom went to pick Briana up from daycare today.

It's my dad and he tells me that Briana has a question for me. So Briana gets on the phone and this is how the conversation goes.

Briana: "Where does the Easter Bunny live?"

Me: "Um, uh, that's a good question. I don't know where he lives."

I think for a minute....then say

Me: "I think he lives at the North Pole with Santa."

By this time she had given the phone back to my dad. So my dad says that Briana asked my mom this very question in the car on the way home from daycare. When my mom told her she didn't know, she told my mom they'd ask Pepa (my dad) when they got home. When my dad didn't know, she said she would ask Mommy, hence the phone call.

I was so not prepared for that question. I guess I should start figuring out where the Tooth Fairy lives so I can tell her that when she asks that one huh?

Smell my Ball!

This conversation brought to you by the end of the evening, tired enduced silliness.

Briana: Mom, smell my ball.

Me: Sniffs ball. Why does it stink?

Briana: Because I've been sitting on it. I think I farted on it.

She then breaks out into the giggles while I'm giving her the side eye.

I love the super tired silliness.

And I love the fact that farting enduces endless amounts of giggles out of my kid!

Snowman, er....snow fireman making...er snow motorcycle making.

So we got snow last weekend and it was perfect for making a snowman. It was nice and wet and stuck together well.

The only hat we had for it was a plastic fireman's hat so it ended up being a snow fireman.

As soon as we finished taking the pictures of her with the snow fireman, she promptly knocked it down.

Then she put the "arms" in the front of it and put more snow on it.

The result was this fabulous snow motorcycle!

We had so much fun playing in the snow!

The Moon is Broke...and Following Us!

In case you haven't noticed, the moon is just a tiny sliver right now. So we were at my parents' house and Briana saw the moon out the front window of the car on our way home.

"Mommy, the moon is broken."

"No it's not, it's supposed to be that way."

"No it's not. It's broken."

"Ok. If you say so."

"Mommy, the moon is following us. I don't like when the moon follows us."

It's not following us."

"Yes it is. It's following us and I don't like when it follows us."

"Sorry, I don't know what to tell you."

I love this kid!

Princess Briana cracks me up sometimes!

So the other day we were downstairs watching tv and she asked if she could go upstairs and watch a movie. I told her she could go upstairs but that she didn't need the tv on yet, that I would turn it on later. So she goes upstairs and I stay downstairs. I thought I heard her hollering for me a couple of times, but she never came out of her room to get me so I didn't really think anything of it.

Then, I hear her door open. I mute the tv to see if I can hear what she's doing....you know, kids have a knack for getting into trouble so I was alert and ready for it.

Then I hear this....

"Mom! What is going on with you?" come from the top of the stairs.

Um whut? LOL!

She comes downstairs and I say "What do you mean what's going on with me?"

And she says, all exasperated like, "Can I watch my movie now?"

I still don't know why I thought this was so funny. And I'm sure you don't find it funny, but I laughed for a good 5 minutes after that.

Oh to be a 4 year old again!
It's been awhile since I've updated, sorry about that. Sometimes life just gets in the way.

I really hope that everyone had a great holiday season and that 2010 has started off great for everyone.

I have just a brief recap of our Christmas for you so enjoy!

Santa was pretty good to Princess Briana this year!

The look on her face when she saw her kitchen was priceless!

She was super excited about the Spongebob, Patrick, and Bullseye that Santa put in her stocking!

She was a mad woman when she was unwrapping her presents! She didn't waste any time!
My little chef! The chef's hat that came with the apron didn't fit...it was too small! :( Oh well, she is still cute in just the apron! And she loves her kitchen!

My sister came to town so we went to my parents' house for most of the day!

She got a sleeping bag from mommy and Andy and a tent from Andy's parents so we let her sleep in her new sleeping bag in the tent for the night! She loved it and was super sad when we took the tent down the next day!

This is how she finished what couldn't have been a better Christmas!

Thank you Santa!

So Princess Briana and I went to Target on Sunday to get replacement light bulbs for our outside lights and to get a rolling pin for when we start our Christmas baking. We were walking by the cards on our way to get the rolling pin and this is how our conversation went...

Briana: "Mommy, we need to get a thank you card."

Me: "Oh we do huh? For who?"

Briana: "For Santa!"

Awwwww.....isn't that just the sweetest thing? She wants to get a thank you card to give to Santa after he brings her presents.

I seriously love this kid!

Prayers and Thanksgiving

One of my friends, Aimee, and her husband, Mike, will be spending Thanksgiving in the hospital. Mike is ill and won't be released for a few more days. Mike's parents are also in town for the holiday. We do not want them to have to cook or to endure hospital food for Thanksgiving. We have set up a paypal account for donations to order them a Thanksgiving meal from Mimi's (http://www.mimiscafe.com/PDF/HolidayFeast.pdf). If you would like to donate money, please click the button below.

I would also like to request that you all say a prayer for Aimee and Mike for a speedy recovery!

Thank you all so much and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Christmas is a comin'!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted an update....I apologize! We have been very busy with life in general. Briana started ballet and is the cutest ballerina I've ever seen, but then, I'm a little biased!

It's that time of year again. You know, that time of year when every commercial that come on the tv results in a chorus of "Mom, I want that for Christmas!", or "Mom, you should get that for me for Christmas!", or "Mom, I love that movie! You should get it for me for Christmas!". Little does she know that I only have two more things to get her for Christmas, along with her stocking stuffers... and all of what I got her isn't anything that she has said she wants. But I'm 100% sure she is going to love what I got her!

Yesterday, we went to Portrait Innovations to get our Christmas pictures taken. For those of you that don't know about our history of taking pictures at Sears, let me just take you on a short little picture montage trip of how our picture sessions at Sears unually end up.

We always take the group pictures first. And as you can see, my little angel is happy and smiling just perfectly!

Then we do the pictures of her and me together. She also does quite well with these too.
Then come the pictures of Briana by herself. The first one always has to be a picture where we catch her off guard. Not to shabby right?
Then we get the "I'm not quite sure if I should cry or not" picture.
Then she finally decides that yes, she should, in fact, be crying. So she does. And so ends our picture sessions.
Now for our picture session at Portrait Innovations. Like always, we started with the group pictures. She did great with these ones like always!
Then we took the pictures of her and I. Once again, she did great with these!
Now, I will let the following photo montage do the rest of the talking. You can be the judge of how the rest of the shoot went!
I don't know about you, but I think we will be taking all future pictures at Portrait Innovations!

I Love You!

So Briana has been in bed for 25 minutes now. About 10 minutes ago she hollered at me so I went up to her room to see what she wanted. This is how the conversation went.

Me: "What baby?"

Briana: "I love you."

Me: "Is that all you wanted?"

Briana: "Yes."

Me: "I love you too. Good night boo."

Briana: "Good night mommy."

My heart melted right then and there!

Hide and Seek

Briana: "Let's play hide and seek. I'll go hide under Pepa's covers!"

Me: Laughing too hard to comment.

I love this kid!

Whiney Butt

We went to my parents' house on Saturday. We told Briana she couldn't stay the night with them because she didn't eat any dinner and was being a whiney butt.

Fast forward to Sunday morning.

I say "What are we going to do today lovebug?"

"Go to Grandma Margo's house."

"Why?"

"Because I'm not going to be a whiney butt!"

The end!

Briana Reading to Grandma!

It's kind of hard to hear since we were outside and it was kind of breezy. But it was cute!

Briana's First Slumber Party!

On Saturday we had our very first slumber party. We threw some blankets and our pillows down on the floor. Briana was so excited!
Then I painted her finger nails and toe nails and I painted my toe nails. Please excuse the messiness that is my toe nails....I hadn't touched them up yet.
We put Cat in the Hat in and we danced...
And we danced.....
And we danced.
Then, we had to rest. Dancing made us tired!

Then we had popcorn. Which she bugged me to make from the instant we walked in the door, then promptly ate 5 pieces and was done.
Then one hour and 40 minutes into our slumber party, Briana fell asleep on the couch.
And this was the sad state of our sleeping set up after she fell asleep on the couch. After she fell asleep on the couch, I let her sleep there for a while. I decided to take her up to her bed so I could sleep in my bed and not be forced to sleep on the floor alone! When I picked her up she said "I love you mommy." It was priceless.
